North Lincolnshire KOI Society
- The name of the Society shall be known as North Lincolnshire Koi Society (NLKS).
- The aim of the Society is to further knowledge of these beautiful fish called KOI and to have a better understanding of the interaction between the pond and the filtration system.
- To promote a responsible attitude towards Koi health and the proper use of medication.
- The Society shall be non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making; it shall not be affiliated to any other organization. Should the Members wish the society to join with other organisations a members vote would be required and 75% in favour before such a merger could take place.
- Membership subscription will be £15.00 per household. Over 60’s will be £7.50 per household. Half price subscriptions as from the August meeting and all Subscriptions are renewable at the January Meeting.
- Guests are invited to become members after two non-chargeable visits, guests to be charged an admission fee for special events.
- Honorary Membership of the Society may be given to any person or persons in return of their past or present services to the Society upon a majority vote by the membership.
- Any member not acting responsibly or not in the best interest of the Society may have his/her Membership withdrawn from the Society upon a majority vote by the membership.
- Members should only use an Official club title to represent themselves on behalf of the Koi Society if they have been duly elected into that specific post/role within the Committee.
- Meetings will take place on the 2nd Wednesday of each month unless otherwise stated and start at 8pm.
- The venue will be Arties Mill Hotel, Brigg, in the event that this has to change due notice will be given to all Members.
- Additional meetings/functions to be arranged, as agreed by the Committee.
- The Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held at the February Meeting. Society officers to give their Annual reports and the election of officers, to take place at the AGM, after due proposal and seconding.
- The retiring committee will finish their duties after the January Meeting.
- The Secretary shall call a general meeting at any time on the instructions of the committee or on demand in writing signed by not less than one quarter of the members and no less than seven days notice of such meetings shall be given in writing to each member.
- A quorum shall be 4 members at a general meeting and not less that 2 of the committee members of which two shall be officers at a committee meeting.
- The secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings.
- The treasurer shall keep accounts of the finances and provide a balance sheet at each committee meeting. Cheques drawn on the society account will be signed by any two of the three counter signatories. The financial year shall end on the second Wednesday of January each year when the books will be independently audited.
- Trade members shall consist of those persons who have a business interest in the sale of koi or related goods on a regular and frequent basis and shall extend to all members of the household.
- Trade members of the North Lincolnshire Koi Society shall have the same entitlements as full members. They must keep the interest of the North Lincolnshire Koi Society first and foremost.
- If for any reason such as lack of members it is decided to dissolve the Society, a vote by the remaining members would need to be taken so they could decide which charity the remaining funds be given to. The charity with the most votes would be the one to receive the funds.
This constitution is to be adopted on the 1st May 2011.
